SchoolIP have recently completed two open days in the East Midlands showcasing SchoolIP and demonstrating the benefits of using the school improvement suite.
The first event was held on Tuesday 27th April, hosted at Corby Business Academy based in Corby, Northamptonshire. The second event was held on Thursday 29th April and was kindly hosted by Landau Forte College in Derby.

Earlier this year Ofsted wrote to all maintained schools about changes to arrangements for Section 8 monitoring inspections of:
• satisfactory schools
• schools given a notice to improve
• schools that require special measures.
One key change is that, with the exception of the first three inspections of schools in special measures, Section 8 monitoring inspections will be conducted without prior notification, although the lead inspector will meet with a school's senior leaders to complet...

Members of the SchoolIP team attended the 17th SSAT National Conference & Exhibition at the ICC in Birmingham from Wednesday November 25th to Thursday November 26th 2009.
There was a tremendous response from Principals,Head Teachers and SLT members that visited our stand towards the SchoolIP suite of school management software,which is a testament to its educational pedigree having been written in partnership with Sir Mark Grundy and his family of schools.

SchoolIP were delighted to attend the recent Innovative Teachers Forum in Birmingham on 1st December 2009.The ceremony hosted by Microsoft awarded a number of teachers for introducing new and innovative teaching practices into their schools. The judging proved to be a very difficult and challenging exercise, with every one of the entries illustrating the outstanding work being undertaken in schools throughout the UK.

During a recent INSET day at Shireland Collegiate Academy in Sandwell, Birmingham the SchoolIP Staff Performance Monitor (SPM) module was rolled out to over 200 members of staff within the academy. The staff members included not only the senior leadership team and the teaching staff but also admin, cleaning and kitchen staff.

Shireland Collegiate Academy hosted an open day yesterday at their school in Sandwell. Attendees were provided with a tour of the academy and an opportunity to see how ICT has made a difference to educating at a modern academy.

The summer holidays are over and a new school term begins seeing a huge rise in the number of schools adopting SchoolIP to manage and streamline thier school improvement. Ten new schools have become members of the SchoolIP community.

One of the most daunting tasks when we started to use the School IP software was getting into the development planning part of the software. Moving to an entirely new way of working (previously we used word documents) for something so large seemed as if it was going to be a challenge but we have managed to make progress with it.

The government is to remove the financial barrier to becoming a sponsor of an academy school in England - with the aim of attracting more backers.
Instead of investing £2m up-front, sponsors must show the "skills and leadership" to run an academy.
The bid to accelerate the number of academies comes as ministers marked the opening of the 200th such schools.
They provide "new starts for disadvantaged communities," says Children's Secretary Ed Balls.

Schools are being urged to make up to £400m a year in savings as the recession continues to bite. Government spending watchdog the Audit Commission said England's schools could save huge sums just by buying desks, equipment and services more sensibly.

Having had SchoolIP running for a couple of months I thought I'd share some of our experience in starting out with the SEF Builder and where we are going next.
We loaded in our old SEF as a reference so there was something in each section to base the new SEF on and made sure that the latest advice that we wanted to give was loaded in.

Christine Gilbert, the chief inspector of schools has announced that they will be reducing the amount of notice schools receive prior to an inspection, from a maximum of five days to two. Inspections of schools in special measures and about 40% of schools rated "satisfactory" will be unannounced.
